Make a Run for It: New Balance Chicago

Hey Mer-babes!  I am so excited to share with you my latest Chicago gem,  New Balance Chicago.  Yes, you read that right!  New Balance Chicago is family  run and has five locations across the Chicago land area.  I made my way over to the New Balance store in Lincoln Park for a shoe fitting.  As a ballet dancer I have had many pointe shoe fittings in my life time but had never had one that came close to the depth of this fitting. Seriously, the people in the store are so nice and accommodating I highly recommend you head in if you live in the Chicago-land area.  I literally had such a fun experience buying running shoes.    First I got measured for size, I am usually between a 5.5 and a 6, which was the case at New Balance as well.  Then, I hopped up on the foot scanner which showed my V high arches, a proud moment for any dancer.  After the scan, I did a walking test to show my fitter how my feet moved when I was walking as opposed to standing still.  For me my main issues was the flexibility of my feet, high arches and flexible ankles allow your feet to wobble around without much restraint.
No sweat because New Balance had the perfect shoes for my needs with had so many options.  I was first drawn to the lifestyle shoes, more relaxed fits for everyday wear.  They had shoes that were super chic and on trend, even ones that sparkled!  Even though I was drawn to those shoes I wanted to try on a more classic running shoe that New Balance is known for.  Being the old lady I am I of course chose their original model from the 80s, the 990 (shop here).  I literally fell in love, my aching feet actually stopped hurting for once in my life, I had to have them.  I love the classic silhouette and I love that they look like a New Balance, they aren't trying to be something they are not!
With my new kicks (shop here), I paired these New Balance leggings (shop here).  These leggings are so comfy I am wearing them as I am writing this post.  I love the thickness and texture, it makes them super flattering and more importantly warm.  I added a simple black jacket (shop here) and pom-pom hat (shop here) for a sporty-chic vibe.
