The irony of finstagram is that it is so real, there is nothing fake about it, except possibly the profile pictures, as mine would indicate I am a veggie burger. The real fake insta accounts are the ones that are public to the world and perfectly polished, while the private accounts are as real as it gets. Finsta accounts are totally raw, you won't find a single perfectly edited brunch shot or an airbrushed selfie, if you do that ain't a finsta. My latest finsta post is a video of my sneezing on a loop, its hilarious and horrifyingly unflattering, but that is what finsta is for. Its kind of refreshing to share things with the people who you are most comfortable with and not have a single worry what your feed looks like. Its a judgement free zone for a rant or a rambling, a food shot that didn't quite get that good lighting, and a place for real no makeup selfies, not the ones under the hashtag #iwokeuplikethis. I think having separate instagram accounts is a fabulous thing, I love my pretty @mermaidwaves feed, my aesthetic is self titled "moody and hungry fashion-chick", but I also love my anti-feed finsta, which is a mess of selfies, screenshots, and snacks.
Finsta is seemingly the last scared social media spot for us Generation Z babies, and that is what is so charming about it. And no, I'm not telling you my finsta handle.
Do you have a finsta? Love it or Hate it? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
