Hey Mer-babes! Welcome to the first OOTD of the New Year, but first I have some little tidbits to share! You may have noticed that on the side bar of Mermaid Waves is a "As Seen on Snap" widget for you to shop my snapchats! The first item is the ever famous Jade Roller that I am just obsessed with over on Snapchat, it is seriously life changing. Also, the Holla-day shop and tab have disappeared, sad, but exciting because its a new year and we had to make room for all the new content coming your way. I am talking fitness videos, recipes, and some more personal writing!

Now that we have that out of the way lets talk about this look. If I know you like I think I know you, you were killing it at every holiday party you went to, and of course you had a different outfit for each. Now the holidays are over and you have all these fabulous dresses full of velvet and sequins, and some of them probably were never even worn outside your room. I feel you girl, this velvet slip dress (currently $34) I'm wearing would have made the ultimate party dress and yet I pulled it out of my closet on January 2, oops.
This velvet slip dress became totally day time appropriate with some simple accessories and the right attitude. How unbelievable are these shoes? These Sam Edelman floral booties are an immediate outfit upgrade. Something as simple as jeans and a tee shirt will turn into a Street Style worthy look when paired with these babies. Then came this jacket, a good denim coat can make almost any piece day time appropriate, I prefer to wear mine draped over my shoulders. Practical? No. Chic? Yes. I finished off the look with a choker, a dainty pearl necklace and a ponytail because I think 2017 is the year of the ponytail comeback, and because I didn't feel like doing my hair, but mostly the first thing.
